Telling the real stories of survivors and the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides has been a guiding principle for the educational projects that we have accomplished.
Among the programs supported by the Friends in 2015 were: Holocaust Teacher’s module, educator lesson plans; traveling the Bosnian Prijedor genocide exhibit; and, digital recorded and transcribed testimonies of Texas Veteran Liberators of WWII concentration camps. The Friends awarded student scholarships for their ‘Creating a More Just World’ videos as a part of THGC’s annual activities during Genocide Awareness month (April) and have begun an educator’s grant program to support class projects that demonstrate civic or social responsibility.
The Friends is comprised of directors, from across the state, that administers the solicitation of funds and oversees their proper use to support THGC programs or projects. The chairman of the THGC serves as chair of the Friends on the non-affiliated dominated board. The Friends meet quarterly to review THGC funding requests and vote’s approval of THGC requests, depending on its ability to acquire sufficient funding.
Will you help us today by joining our mission to educate and bring awareness across Texas? Your generous donation will make a difference. Nothing is too small. Sympathy is appreciated, but we thank you in advance for your compassion to do something about it.
